ASG Zastava M70 Varmint Review (Spoiler alert: it sucks)

Hey G33ks,

So I recently started airsofting and my rifle was an ASG Zastava M70 Varmint.
As somebody who doesn’t run a lot and rather just set up a tent, I decided a sniper rifle would be what I need.
Last Sunday, I took it to the fields at Veluwe Airsoft and boy, what did I regret getting taking this rifle to the field.
The rifle clocked in at 370FPS (even though specs say 420FPS), which is really low for a Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle.
For comparison, most AEGs I played with and against that day clocked in against 350FPS, and they were capable of spraying down an enemy.
In that entire day, I got only 5 kills, of which 4 were made with my KWC M1911A1.
Mean, I did get some nice objective captures, but that was because I switched to pistol-only and ran off my legs that day (literally, I could barely walk the day after).
About halfway through the day, my mag catch started malfunctioning.
Either the mag fell out randomly, or it didn’t want to come out at all (which is why I switched to pistol-only).

So when I came home, I stared at my bank account and looked for some upgrades.
First obviously, I looked at which system is used.
It seemed to be VSR-10 (MB02 in particular) based.
So, I hopped online and ordered some VSR-10/MB02 parts (compatible with both).
An M140 spring, a new Piston, a new hop up arm and a new hop up bucking, as well as a new mag catch.

When all the parts finally came in and I wanted to build it in, something odd caught my eye…

Can you spot the issue?

Jepp, the piston didn’t fit…
No problem, then I use just the spring…
or wait, that did not fit in either…

Earlier that day, I made a joke to my friend:

Looks at bank account, looks at Bunker501 (the place I get all my guns)
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Unfortunately, that joke was becoming reality…
I hopped online and ordered a real Tokyo Marui VSR-10

Looks at Bunker501, looks at bank account
(ಥ ͜ʖಥ)(ಥ ͜ʖಥ)(ಥ ͜ʖಥ)(ಥ ͜ʖಥ)(ಥ ͜ʖಥ)(ಥ ͜ʖಥ)(ಥ ͜ʖಥ)(ಥ ͜ʖಥ)(ಥ ͜ʖಥ)

To sum it all up:
Do not buy this rifle, it won’t give you any good results, and the upgrade path is horrible.
You are better of investing it in a decent Well MB02 or real Tokyo Marui VSR-10.

I hope you guys enjoyed my misery…
I’ll make a review with my code>Tokyo Marui VSR-10 once I’ve played some games with it.
And I’ll probably review my KWC M1911A1 as well.

But for now…

G33k Out!
